Michael Summers, PA-C

mikeBorn and raised in Upland, California, Mike graduated Magna Cum Laude from California Polytechnic University Pomona with a bachelors degree in biology. He then entered the field of research in San Diego where he worked for companies such as Pfizer and Novartis, while also working part-time as an EMT. It was during this period of exploration in the field of medical discovery that his passion for medicine was affirmed.  He then moved to Oakland and studied at Samuel Merritt University in the Masters Physician Assistant program, being awarded the Outstanding PA Student award and Student Service award.

Soon after graduation from the SMU MPA program in 2009, Mike found good use for his Spanish, serving patients in the emergency department in Contra Costa county and teaching diabetes education courses. In 2012, Mike joined the team of Oakland Bone and Joint Specialists, bringing with him the experience from his ED work as well as a bolstered orthopedic and musculoskeletal ultrasound background gained from his clinical training at Samuel Merritt University.

In his spare time Mike enjoys rooting for the Raiders and the A’s, exercising, hiking, surfing and spending time with his family.
